There’s a lot of homegrown talent in Toronto these days, but regrettably, some leans too much on ambience for my liking. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I just crave something different from time to time, like this cut from ELMNT and French-producer C Y G N.
This track is a bit old school and new school at the same time, and is at least attempting to carve its own lane into the growing mountain of music that is Toronto. Toronto is undoubtedly developing its own sound and flavour, but to say there is no room at the table for alternative options or sounds is a limiting perspective that I refuse to accept. So in that vein, queue up ELMNT, and turn up.
