Instead of going full blown with its Lebron James spread, the New York Times went the opposite route: utilizing the negative space of the front page to focus the readers eye on the minute detail of the Cleveland Cavaliers transaction

Anybody who loves basketball is psyched that Lebron James is going back to Cleveland for what is quite possibly the denouement of his career. As a byproduct of that announcement, the coverage on Lebron has also been somewhat nauseating. That’s why the New York Times’ spread highlighting his decision was so refreshing.

The Times let the overarching in-depth analysis be overdone by others, because if you have any knowledge of the basketball world, even seeing the simple business transaction of Lebron James signing back to Cleveland holds enough gravity to move you.
