Kanye West - “Devil in New Dress” (prod. by Bink!)

Devil in a New Dress

Classic Kanye West with production from Bink!, Mr. West is staying on his Friday G.O.O.D. music drops. I hope this is the direction of his new album, I understand growth and these musicians are human, but sometimes you just want the ham sandwich with cheese without all the extra condiments. Link

J. Cole - “Villematic”

j-cole-villematic-450x450

I did have a post for this that went a little off topic, for whatever reason that content didn’t save so I’ll save that for another day. However, in regards to the matter at hand-J. Cole absolutely went in on this Bink! produced beat. J. Cole had a venting session and as he continues to prep for his debut album with a potential release date for this year (hopefully), this “Villematic” is another reason we should all keep our eye on the North Carolinian. John Legend feat. the Roots - “I can’t Write Left Handed”

With President Obama calling all combat troops back to the U.S., this song and video seems fitting. Yet I don’t understand when any country goes to war with another there somehow is a victory. War to me, does not result in victory, no one wins-not when hundreds of thousands of people on both sides die. Here’s John Legend and the Roots “I can’t Write Left Handed” off their upcoming album Wake Up!

Taylor McFerrin - Early Riser EP

Taylor McFerrin - Early Riser EP

Do you ever hear about a musician but you don’t give he/she the time of day, they kind of fall off the radar but then they come back with something that makes you think you slept on he/she? That’s how I felt after listening to this Early Riser EP by Taylor McFerrin. Solid instrumentals with a nice blend of jazz, boom-bap mixed with a portion of that futuristic sound (whatever that means). Don’t do what I did a couple of years ago, this is a nice download to bring in the fall feeling. Link / Source

Busta Rhymes meets Araab Muzik

Now usually I don’t watch many video blogs that appear here and there on different sites because usually most folks don’t have much to say; however, I was put on to a video featuring the producer Araab Muzik and Busta Rhymes and it’s incredible. Araab Muzik displays his musical talents on the MPC and it’s the a.m. of the next morning I’m posting this and I could watch this over and over again. Ironically Araab Muzik just does his thing and doesn’t say a word, another reason I like it.

Also, check the commentary from the guy asking Busta is that Kool-Aid he’s drinking, clearly some folks aren’t hip to sangria. Enjoy.

Nottz Raw & Asher Roth - “Enforce the Law”

nottz-asher-roth

Off their upcoming EP entitled The Rawth, this should be a good look for both individuals. Their deliveries go together like Canada and free health care. Asher seems to feel the need to prove his noteworthy buzz and lyrically he passes with flying colors. As for Nottz Raw, there’s really no need to say anything, he explains it pretty well in his own words. Link

Cortez feat. Miss Jay - “Make a Star” (prod. by Oddisee)

cortez-cover-art-single

The District of Columbia has been in constant motion to cement their flag in hip-hop music. At times it seems to be an uphill battle, but with folks like Wale, Oddisee (featured here), Tabi Bonney, Y.U. and the entire Low Budget crew, no matter how big or small, D.C. is making their mark. Cortez is one of those individuals staking his position in D.C.’s identity process. Here’s his first single, prod. by none other than Oddisee, off his upcoming debut project, The Journey which drops Sept. 28. Link / Source
