EAT FISH. Why? Because fish is high in protein, vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 fatty acids, and can reduce some problems associated with PMS, memory loss, cardiovascular functions, colon cancer, and stroke. Not too bad eh…
The weather is kick ass right now so you’ll find that your taking way more trips to the cottage. If you’re big into fishing, you know that this is the perfect opportunity to catch some beautiful rainbow trout. Not only is rainbow trout a terrific game fish, but it makes one heck of a meal. What makes this fish so amazing is that it has beautiful meat similar to that of a salmon. This makes it a delicacy and a favorite of fisherman all across Canada. Enjoy.

Some things are lost, but not forgotten. As time passes and the digital age takes over, some of our traditional pastimes are often left in the past. Mp3’s have taken over vinyl and digital SLR’s have become the norm over 35mm camera film. But for those who have taken a step back from their computer and trusty photoshop, and are willing to master the art of true film photography; we’ll break down the steps on how to load the film the right way and offer some useful tips along the way.

Words as told by: Walker Lamond | Photography: Paolo Azaragga & LIFE Photo Archive
Originally, the term gentleman, referred to a man that was born with land. In today’s world, a gentleman is not a title that someone is born with, but something that he’s earned. There are rules of dress and behavior that can help you along your way, but the essence of being a gentleman is the desire to be one that manifests itself in everything from courtesy, curiosity, appearance, and a sense of adventure. All of those things are born from an overall desire to improve the quality of your life. It’s not your standing, not the quantity of your belongings, not even necessarily how you’re perceived by others.
The idea that the current generation is somehow not being educated in the rules of a being a gentleman is a complaint that every previous generation has, the idiom of ‘kid’s today’. I don’t think kids today have any more or less access to the fundamentals of being a good person, well dressed, courteous, and a gentleman, than they ever have. That being said, since the ‘60’s, there probably has been more of a focus on youth and rebellion as part of our culture. Anything that was considered a rule or a discipline was tossed aside. They kind of threw the baby out with the bath water. A lot of this institutional knowledge and authority was questioned, so we did lose a bit of it, not lost forever, but it was devalued.

Hope you had a great weekend of weather wherever you are. Here in Toronto, snow reared it’s head for the last time (hopefully) for a late night goodbye on Saturday, and Steve Nash (Canada!) finally got passed his nemesis in the Spurs, with a swollen eye no less.
In case you missed it, here’s a few things to get you up to speed. Ibn Jasper came through with an interview to let us know how he got started, and where he plans to take his game. We also released the uncut, behind the scenes interview of Ibn, to give a glimpse into how hard we work to put it all together, and how much fun we have doing it. Our food editor Chuck Ortiz gets his hands dirty and schools us on how to gut a fish, while we delve into the musical taste of photo curator JJJJound, as part of our In Rotation series. Last but certainly not least, we take you back to a photostream with Gemo Wong, a former design director for Jordan apparel. Sit back and enjoy, with better weather we could all get used to weeks like this…
1. Inquiringmind Profile: Ibn Jasper
Growing up in Chicago’s south side, Ibn Jasper went from cutting hair locally, to worldwide jet setter, style consultant, and barber. Traveling with the G.O.O.D. Music camp, and exclusive barber to music artist and producer, Kanye West, Ibn Jasper has come a long way in his storied career. Link
2. Inquiringmind Uncut: Ibn Jasper Interview
Although we profiled his interview on our magazine side of things, there was many interesting segments in this interview that we had to share with our readers that didn’t make the cut. Link
3. Acquired Taste: How to Gut & Fillet a Fish
From sushi, to fish and chips, it’s apparent that a lot of men out there like fish but they don’t know what it takes to prepare it. As you get more familiar with the kitchen you’ll find that you eventually have to get your hands dirty. Fish is one of those tough items to prepare because of what’s involved. This piece will show you how to gut a fresh fish and then fillet it the right way. Link
4. In Rotation: JJJJound
It’s a telling tale when someone can invoke so much opinion and taste without writing a single word. Montreal resident, Justin Saunders or otherwise known in the online world as JJJJound, bookmarks a capsule of inspiration and taste through his site and further proves that a picture tells a thousand words. Today he graciously shares his musical taste, beyond the images. Link
5. From the Archives: Inqmnd Photostream
In February 2007 during a stop in Las Vegas, we hooked up with Gemo Wong who was the design director for Jordan apparel. During an impromptu ’shoot we discussed growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, to working in New York City, and eventually working for Michael “Money” Jordan, himself. Link

During our L.A. stop from awhile back, we were able to meet up with Ibn Jasper. One of the most humbled people we have met, it is evident through his hard work and passion why he is where he is at right now. If you don’t know who Ibn Jasper is, get familiar. He has been cutting an artist named Kanye West for many years now and serves as a style consultant to many. If memory serves me correct, he just arrived that morning from a Paris flight, but was more then willing to talk shop with us. Although we profiled his interview on our magazine side of things, there was many interesting segments in this interview that we had to share with our readers that didn’t make the cut.
We met that Saturday afternoon in front of Hollywood High where he talked about working with ‘Ye West, to President Obama, to essentials in the closet.
